Update Instructions
- Manual
Download and run the installer. Pandion will uninstall any older vesion, install the update, and launch automatically. - From Pandion 2.6.x
The auto-update service in Pandion 2.6 automatically downloads and installs the update. When the update is ready users are prompted to restart Pandion. - From legacy Pandion 2.5
Users of the legacy Pandion 2.5 version are notified through the auto-update mechanism. This mechanism is not compatible with certain types of HTTP proxy servers. As a fallback the download page opens in the default web browser to manually download and install the Pandion update.
Note: The Pandion 2.6.90 installer automatically removes Pandion 2.5 from the system before deploying the new version.

after update to pandion 2.6.90,it can't send file with others!
File transfer has been removed from Pandion 2.6.90 because the code was unstable, and due to poor firewall/NAT support the protocol implemented does not meet the "it just works" requirement. Patching the file transfer code from Pandion 2.5 would have required a rewrite so instead we decided to remove the feature temporarily and work on a new implementation that is more stable and supports firewalls/NAT better. This will be done using Jingle which is also the basis for future VOIP and video support in Pandion.
Hm, my Pandion 2.5 just notified me about the fact that an update is available. Downloaded and installed it, connection to the Jabber server couldn't get established... checked the settings and realized the option for a proxy server is missing from the settings in the new version. Uninstalled the new version and went back to the old version, everything works fine again. Hm... weird new version isn't it.
@sponsoring: Could you please try again with Pandion 2.6.90 but press F12 to open a network monitor? Then copy and paste the connection log. I'd be happy to debug this and fix the problem. It's probably not the proxy support, which doesn't really do much in Pandion 2.5 anyway.
Seb: I would like to help, but now when I tried to re-install 2.6.90 the installer won't let me. It is offering me the options "Repair" or "Remove". Probably it thinks that 2.6.90 is still installed but in fact 2.5 is. Anyway, it is a fact that without a proxy I cannot connect to the internet, so when I choose "None" as proxy server in 2.5 then the connection will fail. So, the proxy setting *does* much in 2.5 (and is gone in 2.6.90). :)
@sponsoring: If Pandion 2.6.90 is still on the system then you can launch it from Start > Run: "%LocalAppData%\Pandion\Application\pandion.exe"
One of the next features to implement is proxy support but in a different way (BOSH) than what Pandion 2.5 did (HTTP CONNECT). It was quite rare to work at all so I guess you're lucky. ;)
Seb: I'm feeling lucky then. And all of my colleagues here at work, who use 2.5 as well, too. :) Anyway, 2.6.90 is not on the system anymore, it was overwritten by 2.5 when I re-installed 2.5 before. However, the installer of 2.6.90 *THINKS* that it is still there, for some reason. Regards.
Do the Repair and Remove options work? That should enable you to bring back 2.6.90 and try the tests.
Seb: Repair doesn't work, after I clicked on it it will do something until "Publishing product information" and then a Pandion Setup pop-up appears: "A network error occured while attempting to read from the file: C:\...blabla...\Pandion_2.6.90[1].msi (blabla is the path where I downloaded the file to). Looks like it's trying to make a connection to the internet but fails cause of missing proxy settings (?) :) "Remove" I'm not going to try cause I'm afraid to lose all my settings, contact list etc.
The installer doesn't connect to the internet. It's just "publishing" to the Windows Installer datastore on your machine. The error is due to it not finding the original installer in the same place. (I don't really like Windows Installer *.msi packages because it has these kinds of complex edge cases, but it's required for network administrators.)
Uninstalling Pandion 2.6.90 does not remove user data. Only the application and shortcuts are removed. You can also manually backup your Pandion user data (profiles, history, ...) by making a copy of "%AppData%\Pandion".
Alright, "Remove" worked. Here's the output of the network console (F12) when connecting to my Jabber server:
EVNT: Connecting to xxx.com
EVNT: Disconnected
I replaced my real host with xxx.com. I suppose this output doesn't help you at all. I mean, what are we testing here... I know that without my proxy I can't connect to the internet, so it's obvious that the connection fails. :)
I gonna test this version, now we have more than 4500 v2.5 clients installed, with an average of 2500 connected users.
Great work!
@sponsoring: You're right, that's the expected result. Thanks for verifying though. :)
@El iconoclasta: Thanks! Good luck with the testing, let me know if there are any problems.
Actually it looks pretty good and it's working perfect for me but I can't find the option to allow new messages pop-up or not, the last version had it so the window didn't pop-up and stayed in the tray ... help please... Tnx!
Sorry for my bad English.
I have:
Server - Windows 2000 Rus + OpenFire 3.6.4 (with ntlm)
Client - Windows XP Rus + Pandion 2.5 (installing with WSH folder Pandion and global.xml in domain)
Rosters - on Russian.
Not problem.
But if use Pandion 2.6.90 - i do not have authorization from the first time. Edit file brand.xml for use SSO does not change the situation.
Writes that - disconnected from the server.yarkers
@Mario: Messages now always open a new window and flash the taskbar.
@Serge: Press F12 to open the network monitor and email me the traffic log at mailto:cbas@pandion.im
I think you should at least maintain the original features as a options on the Settings area. Why remove the File Transfer like this? And also about the notifications, these should be configurable options in the settings section.
Thankfully, here in the company Padion was removed from several machines for failing to support the proxy. Now take people back here to use
